Prowl Prowl Trilogy Amber Garza Books
I read this book as part of the blog tour for Amber Garza's trilogy Prowl. Mackenzie who prefers to go by Kenzie is spending the summer in Sacramento with her grandmother. Right away she meets the cute boy next door Issac and the goth girl across the street Rhiannon. Each one befriends her in their own way. Rhiannon is a practicing witch who can read aura's, and can sense that Kenzie also is gifted with powers. Issac also takes Kenzie out on a few dates even though she has sworn off men after a powerful breakup.Rhiannon introduces Kenzie to witch craft by using a Ouija board to talk to the spirits, they instantly start talking too Wesley who knows about Kenzie's past offer to tell her about her father. She purchases her own Ouija board to talk to Wesley when Rhiannon isn't around and that is when things go wrong. She starts having horrible nightmares, so she stops sleeping, and thinks that Wesley is her father as he pretends hiding his true nature.
This book is the first in a series I plan to read over the next month. The synopsis hints at something powerful but doesn't give a clue exactly what we are going to expect. It's a fast paced book that kept me wanting more. I wanted to know who Wesley really was, what he wanted and what would happen to Kenzie. She's hasn't had the best life, things have been rough she has a past so this was a chance for a new start it's fun to watch Kenzie progress as she dabbles in witch craft. I like her as a character, I feel that she is well written and easy to relate too. It's a interesting story, a unique twist on personal demons but this one just happens to be really evil.

Prowl Prowl Trilogy Amber Garza Books Reviews
No where in the description of this book does it mention Wesley is a ghost and the book had religious overtones. Not my cup of tea. Glad I got it for free.
Also notice that most of the 5 ratings are from people with one review, makes you wonder if someone might be padding the ratings?
If you thought Bella Swan had problems, wait till you meet Mackenzie! A must read for a lazy pool day this summer. I don't want to spoil the surprise but this book has some chilling moments. A tale of love, betrayal, faith, and redemption that will have you on the edge of your seat...or lounge chair. The characters have depth and passion rarely seen in this genre and the author displays keen insight in her investigation of many of the terrifying issues that not only the characters, but many real life teens, face every day. Can't wait for the next one!
What surely promises to be the worst and most boring summer ever takes a totally different turn for Mackenzie. Wesley comes into her life and life as she knew it becomes something new. An excellent read and beginning to an amazing series!
What a fantastic debut novel. Each page left me wondering what Mackenzie would do next. How would she respond.. and react.. and how would those around here feel about her decisions. Young people are faced with tough decisions and choices every day, and Mackenzie is no different.
Can't wait for Entice!
Books like this should be described as Christian content right in the description. As a YA book, it was fairly good but I find the description misleading when it doesn't describe something so critical to the story. If people want to read Christian books, I support their right 100%. However, I don't like that the Christian content was "under cover" in this book.
In fact, the book starts out like other supernatural books and then sneaks in the Christian themes and contents until they are the central theme. I think it's unfortunate that young people may buy the book for one thing only to be preached to unexpectedly. Makes me feel like the author wanted extra people to buy it, because obviously the market would be smaller for Christian themed supernatural stories. That made me extremely uncomfortable.
What an awesome story! I read through it pretty quickly, especially since lately, it takes me forever to get through books. Kenzie is a girl with a past, longing to start over when she spends the summer at her Grandma's house. What she finds besides friendship and answers to her heritage, is a darkness that clings to her soul in more ways than one. Can she overcome this demon of sorts? Or will this be the end of her, literally?
This has some Christian themes in it and I think that the story interweaved them easily, keeping the suspense and mystery in perfect harmony. I found myself glued to the pages (my kindle actually) to see what was going to happen to Kenzie next. This girl has a knack for trouble. But I was intrigued on how she handled things and how it ended at the end.
Definitely is left open for the next book, I can't wait to read it. A great YA series, loved it!
I'm very happy that the author published this in one package so I don't have three books stored on my kindle wondering which is first in the series.
This book kept me glued to my kindle from start to finish. It was very suspenseful and I could not put it down! Perfect reading for a rainy day on vacation when it was too dismal to leave the hotel room (smiley). I had purchased it awhile ago but just got to it now (October 2013).
There was alot of depth and character development going on and I liked the not overplayed message of good/evil/Christian values. It was not overdone or sappy at all (I'm Christian). The plot kept me on the edge of my chair and I was glued to the very last page, not knowing how it would finish or who Kenzie would end up with.
I just purchased 2 other books by this author, so I hope she writes more teen suspense novels that aren't totally centered around romance. Either way, good luck to her. She definitely has talent (IMHO).
